How I began
Hi! My name is Chelsey and I live and work in Sandspit/K’il Kun on Haida Gwaii. I am a mother of two sweet boys. Giving birth to my first son is what pulled me towards this work. I was vastly unprepared for the sacred, transformative and empowering space that labour and birth brings. Preparing for my second birth, I surrounded myself with wise women and was able to shed any fears and have a beautiful birth here on Haida Gwaii. I believe birth is a natural, healthy and sacred event. Women and babies have the inherit wisdom necessary for birth. Each and every women remembers how they were (or weren’t) supported postpartum and I feel passionately about supporting mothers through a gentle transition to motherhood. Witnessing the power of women is a privilege and I am grateful for the women and families that I support.
Disclaimer - My sweet baby boy Felix was born just five short months ago. With our own slew of breastfeeding challenges and wanting honor my own postpartum period I am limiting postpartum support to 3~ hours at a time.
